How To Prevent Acne: For Teenagers As Well As Adults


When it comes to acne, many adults realize that it’s no longer just a teenager’s curse. Many adults get acne, too. Many people who have acne think it has something to do with something in their diet, while others swear it’s just in their genes. Whatever may be causing your acne, you can prevent it by following a few steps. Of course, if acne does happen to be in your genes, a visit to a dermatologist may be the only thing that can help. If, however, acne doesn’t run in your family, follow these simple steps and you may soon find yourself acne free.

A Healthy Diet

To prevent acne with your diet, you first must break any bad diet habits you may have. You may love your chocolate and sweets but those candy bars won’t do a thing for your complexion. Try to abstain from sweets for a few days. If your acne clears up or you seem to be able to prevent acne, then you know it was your diet all along. A few days should allow you to see if you can prevent acne by following a sweet-free diet. Of course, just because you abstain from sweets doesn’t mean you are following a healthy diet. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and try to follow the food pyramid as closely as you can. Also, try to refrain from drinking cola, as most colas have as much sugar, or more, than candy bars and chocolate.

Exercise

Yes, you can actually prevent acne by exercising. As you sweat, your sweat glands will excrete all the oils that have been building up in your skin. Plus, getting exercise has other health benefits, as well. Before you start any exercise program, make sure you consult with your doctor. All you have to do is get some kind of exercise three to four times per week and you’ll find that you can actually prevent acne. You’ll look and feel better, too. What could be better than that?

Get Plenty Of Exercise

A healthy diet and exercise will hopefully prevent acne but no matter what you eat or do, your skin will soon break out if you don’t keep it clean. Use a good cleanser to wash your face of dirt and oil at least once per day. A good regimen to keep up with is to wash your face in the morning after you wake up and then once again right before bed. By cleaning your face, you will help keep your pores free of that dirt and oil and you will prevent acne from popping up all over your forehead, cheeks and chin.
